Tips and Tricks on How to Avoid Scammers

Hey guys, this is lpsamazin320 with her FIRST AJ BLOG! Anyways, I have a Youtube account that goes with my username, be sure to check it out and maybe subscribe?

Anyways, right now, I'm going to teach you how to avoid scammers. I've never been scammed before because I do a lot of research on scammers. And I mean a lot. So I'm going to give you some tips and tricks on how to avoid scammers and techniques that scammers use to steal your items!

First of all, if you didn't already know, scammers are people who use manipulative techniques so they can steal your rares, betas, etc.

Many scammers are very easy to avoid, while some are very smart. Here are some of the techniques that scammers use:

This is the most common one, the, "Send me a rare and I'll send you back," technique. Scammers may say, "What for your (insert rare item here like headdress or fox hat)?"

You might say, "Only if you have (insert other rare item here.)"

The scammer will say, "I have that send me your item and I'll send my item back!"

You send the item and the scammer might run away without saying anything, or they might say, "Oh no gtg I'll give you my item tomorrow!"

Then they will leave with your precious item. The easiest way to avoid this is say, "I only use the trade system," or, "Put it on trade I will trade you for it," or something along those lines. REMEMBER, ALWAYS USE THE TRADE SYSTEM!

This trick is similar to the first one, the, "My 'Yes' button isn't working." You might have a fox hat and the scammer will say, "I have a rare headdress but my yes button isn't working will you send it to me I will send the headdress back." (Just for your information I will be using headdresses and fox hats for a lot of these)

You may say something along the lines of, "Ok," or, "Yes."

Now sometimes the person is actually telling the truth, but most of the time they're just trying to scam you. You send them your fox hat and they run off with it without sending the headdress back. The easiest way to avoid this is to tell them to relog, and if they say no, it is definitely a scam.

Now the next technique. I see this all the time in Jamaa Township. There are two variations of this one, the "Send me stuff I am poor," and "Send me stuff it is my bday."

ATTENTION PEOPLE
READING THIS:
This is only me
making an example.
PLEASE NOTE
THAT THIS IS ME!!
So you are in Jamaa Township or somewhere busy. You see a person saying either one of the two sayings that are listed above. You may feel sorry for them and send something or you want to do something nice for their birthday. Usually they aren't poor at all, and it is usually isn't their birthday at all, but only sometimes, it is really their birthday.

If people have achievements
like this, especially
the "100 Gifts Sent!"
one, they are not
poor.
The easiest way to avoid the "I'm Poor," scam is to check their achievements, animals, and den. Some people change their dens to only a blue rug and sturdy table, the first two items you get in the game. They might delete all animals which might be absurd, but the proof is in the achievements. If they have countless achievements, they are NOT poor, especially if they have the "(insert big number here) gifts sent!" one, or the "100,000+ Gems Earned!" achievement. Also, if they are a member, they are most likely NOT a newbie.

The easiest way to avoid the "It's My Birthday," scam is to, well, not send anything! You don't have to send them a birthday present! It's your choice.

Now this one, I've heard of it before, the "Backup Account Scam." Somebody is in Jamaa Township, yelling, "Send me a rare and I'll send a fox hat back!"

Now everybody is yelling in caps, "SCAMMER! DON'T SEND ANYTHING!"

Then a player sends something. (It is the backup account of the scammer.) He tells everybody and they yell, "NO!"

Then he gets sent something (Or if it's a really good scammer, the backup will get traded for something, because non members cant open gifts). The backup account will then put on a fox hat. (He probably already had it.) Everybody will probably be dumbfounded and the backup will say, "HE/SHE GAVE ME A FOX HAT GUYS IT'S NOT A SCAM!!"

People will then send rares and the scammer will run off with them.

There is no easy way to avoid this scam. The only thing you can do is to use the trade system.

The "I Decline All Trades," scam is one of the most popular scams that I've seen in Jamaa Township.

A scammer will be in Jamma Township, saying, "I decline all trades," or something along those lines.

You might trade a rare for a worthless item, like a necklace. They will accept and run away. People are probably lying and I've never seen one telling the truth. I always open player tags if they say "I decline all trades." Some run away, but I've seen one said, "HAHAHA JK" before, leaving after. I've recently caught a scammer on camera, her username is "username846". The victim is doglover30014.

So here's what happened: I was recording, and I saw a purple wolf saying, "TRY ME I NEVER ACCEPT."

^This is username846.^
I opened her name tag and looked at her trade list. Rubbish. I kept her name tag open. I saw the trade bubble appear over her head and then she disappeared. I saw the victim saying, "SHE TOOK MY RARE WHEN SHE SAID I ALWAYS DECLINE!"

I was about to type, "I'M RECORDING I WILL SAY HER USERNAME," but I forgot it because I had to close it out for something. Thank God that I was recording while opening her name tag. After shooting the video, I later re-watched it to see if I could find her username. I found it. Anyways, after the victim said, "SHE TOOK MY RARE WHEN SHE SAID I ALWAYS DECLINE!" she said, "I TRADED A RARE TO HER!"

She then said, "AND NOW I HAVE 0 RARES!" then making the crying emotion.

I said, "Wait."

I was recording when she said all of this, and I ended up trading a rare lei to her for a blue crocodile plushie. She said, "THX WHOEVER DID THAT!" then making the huge smile emoction, then said, "U MADE MY DAY!" I found out that the rare lei was a RIM (Rare Item Monday) and I usually don't care about RIMs unless I like them, (No, I'm not selfish and greedy.) It was good for me, too, because I had a plushie collection.

The "I'm from AJHQ" isn't common. I've never seen it in Jamma before. Although this scam isn't common, people still do it.

So say you have a rare headdress or a fox hat. Somebody comes up and says, "Hi, I'm from AJHQ. We want to do an update on the item you are wearing, may I borrow it?"

You say, "No."

The scammer says, "I will return it after I am actually from AJHQ."

You might open their player card and it has one word with no numbers. You are convinced and send them your item. They run away with it and never return it.

The easiest way to avoid this scam is to never believe it. Anyways, why would AJHQ need an item to do an update on it?! They are AJHQ! They don't need to borrow items from players.

The "Can I Try it On?" scam is easy to fall for if the asker has been your friend for a year or more.

So say that you have a buddy that has been friends with you for a long time. You could be wearing a fox hat. Your friend says, "Can I try it on? I'll send it back after."

You say, "Ok," and send her your fox hat. She puts it on and says, "Oh no gtg I'll send you it tomorrow!"

She won't send you it and unbuddies and blocks you.

The easiest way to avoid (AND FIGURE OUT) this scam is to offer to get the same animal as they are and try it on for them. If they say yes, just show them. If they say no, they are scamming. Report them. Also, if they REALLY want to try it on, make sure you know them in real life. You can never know if you can trust them if they are just a pixelated animal on a screen.

I will make a new post about more scams later on!
